Ramón Cáceres is an experimental researcher in computer systems and networks. His research interests include mobile and ubiquitous computing, human mobility, wireless networking, network measurement, virtualization, security, and privacy. He is currently a Lead Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Labs - Research. He has previously been a research scientist at IBM Research and Bell Labs. Ramón has also held leadership positions in several startup companies, for example Chief Scientist of Vindigo, an award-winning provider of location-based services for mobile devices.
Ramón has published widely cited papers in the computing and networking research literature. He has served as technical program chair of MobiSys, MobiCom, MobiVirt, and HotMobile, and on the program committees of numerous other conferences and workshops. He has also been on the editorial boards of IEEE Pervasive Computing, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking. He is an IEEE Fellow and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.
Ramón holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from McGill University. He was born and raised in Dominican Republic.
